Edited by: Skex Relbore on 25/08/2010 19:53:29 RVB the long running combat institution dedicated to good fights in High Sec, Has just undergone a major structural and leadership change and has moved to a new location.
Due to the limited pathways in our old system and the effect it had on our ability to react to 3rd Party War targets , RVB has packed up and moved from our old home in Anwyns to a new home of Osnins in the Everyshore region.
The new Red Federation Headquarters is located in the Halle system at Halle X-Moon 4 X-Sense Chemical Refinery, The Blue Republic Headquarters is located in Jurlesel at Jurlesel VI-Moon17 X-Sense Chemical Refinery.
For those of you not familiar with RVB we are an organization dedicated to providing a place for people to come and fight. We fight the opposing team, we fight the 3rd parties who come to test their mettle and when those fail weÆll even fight each other.
We engage in a wide range of PVP activities, Roaming skirmishs, arranged fleet battles, 1v1Æs, solo roaming, Free for all slugfests, Something we call Frigbrawling where weÆll split into two teams and all fly a predetermined number of cheap meta 0 fit T1 ships and then fight until only one team has ships remaining.
We also do the occasional low/nul sec roam and weÆre always looking for new and creative ways to find excuses for fun fights.
So if you are looking for good instant action PVP come on down.

Battle report 8/35 US TZ
I've been slacking a bit on these lately but I think it's time for a return.
So quite a bit has transpired since my last battle report. We've suffered through some serious power imbalances between the corporations that resulted in a drop off of activity which hampered our ability to deal with a couple very rough 3rd party wars.
We've restructured our leadership to a single CEO in charge of both corps (the previous 2 CEO's were both stepping down and it seemed an opportune time to make some major changes.
In the process of all this I was asked to come on as one of the 3 directors for Red Federation, We've since been working hard to rebuild taking several steps to hopefully get RVB humming back along as the lean mean ship destruction machine that we all know and love.
Anyway I promised a battle report.
I've spend the last couple nights moving ships from our old home to our new. Last night I logged Skex into our new HQ in Halle and while screwing about moving some crap with an alt I noticed a bunch of blues sitting on undock.
I check the fleet finder and find that there is already a red fleet up so I join up and get a intel report. There are a number of blues hanging out on station a couple rifters a thrasher and a pair of vigils.
One of our guys is sitting on undock in a drake and I'm debating what ship to bring out. he announces that the blues have agroed. I say to heck with it and hop into my shinny new Vengeance and undock. I target one of the rifters and the blue fleet switches to me from the drake and I over heat everything and it's on. It was a fun fight but in the end my tank manages to hold on (barely) as we take out the Blue frigs the thrasher never came into range. I ended up with a burned out repper and sitting on undock with a smoldering engine bay.
Fun times. Next they come back with some bigger stuff some BC's and cruisers I decide to go out in my inty with a single blue arbi about 150k off station I burn out to it lock it down and soon experience my first T2 loss as his support fleet arives and mine doesn't.
We play docking games for a few minutes until I break out my CovOps to try and get a warp in for my fleet and the blues decide that their long range nano stuff won't handle a close range warp in.
Sit around station a few minutes then reports come in about a 3rd party Proteus jumping into system, I coordinate with the blues to form a purple fleet and we catch the proteus on undock and force him to dock up. We play docking games for a few minutes until he manages to get a warp out to a corpy or an alt and finally slips our camp and the chase was on.
The bulk of our fleet are chasing this guy back to his home system with no real luck catching it. I waffle a couple times then finally head off with my mega since I figure we need some dps to take that thing down if we can catch it.
Somehow I end up getting on a different route form the fleet and I'm a couple jumps behind. The main fleet chases the proteus to his home station and 3rd parties undock a mach and serveral other ships in support. I jump into system just as the festivities begin and warp to the main fleet.
We go at them for a good half hour or so taking three of their ships in exchange for 3 of ours it would have resulted in more carnage but most of the ACLU guys were afraid to actually agress (that's the problem with using shinny ships people are too scared to use them) hats off to Obeliskos his fits were fail but his courage wasn't. One of our guys lost a punisher and another a Rook, in exchange we took a Cane Myrm and Dramiel of theirs.
They finally log off camped into station and we call it a night. To add to the humor of the situation their wardec was invalidated by Concord while we were flying home.
I'll miss ACLU I had hoped to get a fight with Hardon who'd threatened to pod me back in my carebeary days.
Thanks for the good times ACLU ya'll come back ya hear.

Originally by: Lady Gadiva RvB right now is the epitome of crap. No FCs, 3rd party wars making both sides not want to undock. Insta-PVP - highly unlikely. Right now I'm camped outside Red HQ in a throw-away BC and only 2 reds in system.
If you want an arranged rifter one on one, RvB is the place for you. Otherwise, get a spoon and slowly insert into you eyeball.
When was the last time you FC'd a fleet Lady? If it wasn't last night you got no room to whine.
To address the concern though. Yes things are a little slower right now than we'd like which is why we're trying to recruit heavily.
We've also just finished relocating and a lot of us are busily working on logistics and trying to build a market to support operations. It will take a few weeks for all that to get worked out.
Now as to fighting last night Noir had a Hype an Abaddon a Brutix and a Drake on undock when I logged in. Several of the night FC's tend to get on about the same time so within a few minutes we had a decent little fleet put together to try and do a little something something.
I used an alt to scan their ships, we then decided on a plan. I undocked my Neut Domi to see if they'd play. The Brutix agressed but I held off calling in reinforcement until the hype engaged. when it did we had the remainder of our fleet undock/warp in. Our former CEO now a blue director Morphe brought in an RR domi since we were still waiting for blues wardec to go active. They got my Domi down to about 30% armor when the reps arrived we then tore into the Hype. The Brutix had run off at the begining of the fight and the drake disappeared some time as well.
Anyway we popped the Hype generating a nice 288mil isk KM sadly the baddon managed to deagress and dock up. Kudo's to the Noir pilots for the fun they provided.
After that I spent some time BSing with a couple guys in fleet while doing some logistics work then the baddon started undocking again so I reopened the fleet and we prepared to try to get him. Sadly he wasn't stupid enough to actually agress knowing the kind of force we had available so I talked to Morphe and who got a blue fleet together then we went off and had a nice little 9v9 frig fight.
That fight was what RVB is all about. Red won the engagement but only barely we only had 2 ships remaining and one of those heavily damaged when the dust cleared. At the end my guns were 99% damaged and it cost me about half a mil isk to repair everything. It was great fun sadly it was late and we all had to head off to bed we'll be trying to get some more like that going tonight.
Things should start picking up now Blue's war with Noir started last night so now we can break off a stick of purple pwnage in their backsides. The markets are starting to come together and we're getting a lot of new blood.
While we welcome anyone what we really need right now is people who are willing to step up, take the initiative and lead. It's a good way to break into FCing You'll generally have the support of experienced FC's to help you learn the ropes if needed and a willing pool of pilots.
RVB is a community project and works best when we have people who are willing to step up and get things moving. Right now is a great time to join up, With us in rebuilding mode there are lots of opportunities to leave a mark in a well known EVE institution not to mention get a little PVP experience in.

Bumpity bump
Things are starting to heat up from our lull in activity lots of new faces joining to get blown up.
We did a little low sec roam last night only one kill and one almost, Then I proceeded to lose a Ranis because I was an idiot and warped to a gate with a GCC. Oh well lesson learned ;-)
We'll be having one of our Frig Brawls tonight that an event we do where we break up into 2 even teams and then fit out several T1 meta 0 non-rigged ships and duke it out, reships upto the predetermined number, warp outs and station repairs allowed. It's a whole lot of cheap fun.
Our soloers are working on an event for our anniversary, yep it's almost here Sept 20th will mark the 1 year birthday for RVB.
Lots of Pew Pew here and things are getting better every day as more people join up and our markets start coming together.

Ok time to send this back to the top. Things are turning around and getting better daily. We gearing up for our 1 year aniverary 7 more days to the 20th when RVB will celebrate hopefully with lots and lots of explosions.
So join up now come down the Everyshore region to Halle for Red Fed or Jurlesel for blue.
Last night we turned Halle red with one of our Frig Brawls 3 teams one moon 90 minutes of mass destruction destroyed over 95 ships in that hour and a half period got on like 30 of the kill mails myself and lost 9 cheap ships.
So we're back in business with a vengeance if you want some good fun PVP we're the place. If you are a carebear interested in sharpening your claws we're the place. Bored of roaming low or null for hours at a time looking for a kill come on over. Do you like having 1v1s that are actually 1v1 then we got that too. Want small gang small ship battles that's our specialty.
See Killboard too see what kind of action you are missing out on.

Return of the battle report
I've been very busy outside of EVE lately so haven't been able to keep these up as much as I'd like I'll most likely still be spotty but we need more targets so hear goes.
Logged on last night hopped in a wolf and went for a cruise around the area. Found a couple Noir guys hanging out in Lorenblompes (or however it's spelled) They gave chase with a rifter thrasher sentinel scimitar and at one point a Hype. Kind of hated running from a rifter in a wolf but I'd given an Ishkur kill to one of their bait and ganks a few days ago and didn't feel like feeding their killboards with another AF kill if their back up got there before I could kill it and leg it out.
Slipped them went back to HQ and those of us in command formed up a little fleet.
It was a good time of night for us. A lot of RVB vets online, guys with thousands of kills so definitely our A team so it seemed like a good time to pay Noir back for some of the pain they'd been causing our noobs.
Takes us a little while to get formed up but in the end we have about 10 guys. We jump in a bunch of Battlecruiers with one guy in an scorp to jam up the scmimi.
After some cat and mouse we finally get them to aggress us on a gate. Sadly our Scorp pilot has been out of the game for some months and as such is rather rusty and instead of MWDing off the gate to jam from range he gets grabbed and popped early in the fight. We take down a couple of the Noir Drakes at the gate then I guess they decide there was too much heat and made a run for it. One of our guys managed to then catch one of their Cane's in a belt and we all warp in for round 2.
There we take down one Cane and are starting to work on a second when I decide i need to get out while my ship is still in one piece, Unfortunately some buginess in the UI resulted in a delay in aligning. I'd aligned out and was working on bringing my drones back and trying to neut out another Noir Cane, when I notice I'm not moving. I hit warp to again but by that point it's too late and the ships falling apart around me. So my Myrm is reduced to a pile of rubble as my pod books it back to HQ. The Remaining RVBers dispatch another Noir Cane and then Noir heads for the hills (or the station as it were.)
Was good fun, Even with the Scorpion loss we ended up a bit to the good on the isk side plus wince we held the field we got all the loot.
Battle Summary
I also decided that it's time I add Caldari ships to my repertoire of skills still don't plan on training missiles but they do have some actual gun boats as well as the only real ECM platforms. So guess I'll spend the next week training into a Caldari BS (besides the Scorp is a very sweet looking ship).
That's just a sampling of the kind of action we get.
Our only real impediment to more fun is a shortage of willing pilots. Which is where YOU come in. The more who join the more fun can be had.
So bring ISK and a willingness to shoot and get shot at.

Ignore Lady G he's just ****y cause we blew up so many of his shinny ships.
RvB is about getting good fights and if you insist only flying around in big expensive ships all the time you're probably not going to get much action.
If on the other hand you like hoping in a ship and going out and finding someone to shoot at and get shot buy it's a great place.
IN general our most commonly used ships are T1 frigs and Cruisers the reason is that we generally try to have more evenly matched fights which means that one is naturally going to lose more ships than one would in other environments where people take more pains to make sure the odds are in your favor.
As such flying around in expensive ships can get real pricey fast. It's not uncommon to lose 2-5 ships a night in RVB when things really get going and not many people can afford to lose that many 100mil isk ships a night.
Lady G insisted on flying mainly BS's and T2 T3 ships as such he didn't find much action and is all emo.
If you want some good fun fights RVB is the place for you.

Bumpity bump time
Ok time for a little battle report.
Logged in last night managed to get in a little fleet action with 2 frig/cruiser fights against blue. Didn't go well for us Red's with the first round having a screwed up gang warp that resulted in only part of our gang making it to the fight and getting wiped out. The second didn't go much better with Cazik's super tanked rupture holding our attention for too long.
While licking our wounds from that fight, reports come in of a 3rd party war target in the area. So I form up a purple fleet forgetting that Red's war hasn't quite gone active yet.
These war targets have several RVB alumni and we've been in communication with them Basically they're just looking for a little action on the side of their merc work so we're amiable to giving them some good fights.
So we talk with them a bit and explain that we're not going to be able to really mount much force against them until the red war goes active and we make arrangements to have a fight in a couple hours when we can get a real fleet together.
We spend that time getting everyone into fit out BCs and then when the war goes live we get back with our Violent Intent contacts and tell them to come on down. We agree to a 10v10 BC fight (actually we ended up with 11 but I think they underestimated us enough to be willing to try us with 10)
When they got there we met up at a planet and went at it.
Contrary to the more pessimistic predictions of some of our members we acquitted ourselves quite well on the battlefield sinking 9 of our ships to 2 losses. I attribute this in large to the advantages offered by our long range drakes compared to their HAM fit drakes meaning we were able to start pounding them before they got into range to shoot back at us.
I decided to fly my blue alt for that fight since he has the better drone skills and it was quite fun.
Props to Violent Intent for their willingness to play by our rules of engagement to get some fun ship explodies on. It's always refreshing to face combatants who don't insist on taking overwhelming force to any fight.
Just another night in RVB.
Once again I say to anyone interested in getting into PVP that RVB is a great place to start and get a little seat time and combat experience.

Bump time. Things are beginning to pick up.
Currently we're mostly needing pilots in Blue to balance things out, the more the merrier though if you just have to be in red.
I had a sick kid at home yesterday so I didn't get too much action but I did manage to get involved in a small skirmish with one of our war targets.
Was fun pretty much logged in an joined our fleet already in progress in the ship I happened to be in when I logged in (was away from station roaming earlier in the day). We met up got some intel reports and caught the VI guys on a gate.
We swooped in popped the two AF's then I was getting a bunch of heat so I overheated my AB and performed a GFTO maneuver (no point in giving them a juicy AF Killmail to balance out the two we got from them).
Our purple fleet managed to take out 3 more of their cruisers and a punisher before being forced off the field by VI's reinforcement fleet.
We didn't get the loot but it was still fun to execute a successful hit and run attack.
That was the highlight the War Targets ran off and frankly it was already late for me so I just shot the breeze a bit then logged.

As always we're open and ready for business.
Some new war targets came to play this week.
I think it's going to take them a while to get their efficiency back up.
We may not be elite merc's but we generally hold our own against these guys the real fun starts tomorrow when Red's reciprocal dec goes live and we can shoot at them too.

PRON's have now decided that we are not the noobs they are looking for and are moving on to targets more their speed. Thanks for the killmails guys :).
Perhaps now that several major PVP corps/alliances have pulled back bloody stumps playing with us, they'll let us have a little more of our flavor of fun shooting each other.
Now I see several groups posting in this board wanting to teach you how to PVP. and while we are not nor do we pretend to be a school of any sort we a place where you can learn to PVP. We fight, we fight each other, we fight war targets and occasionally we go off into Low Null or WH space to kill there too.
And while we do not have classes or instructors we do have a large number of experienced PVPers who are more than happy to share their knowledge with you.
More importantly however if you have the will and the courage to undock you will get real experience shooting and getting shot at. A couple weeks of constant combat and that adrenaline rush that makes you do stupid stuff like forget to overheat will be gone.
When I first joined RVB 6 months ago I could usually manage to set an orbit and turn on my guns. after just a few short weeks of RVB I was a cold blooded killer calmly making decisions adjusting speeds, manually piloting, pointing targets and adapting to the changing conditions of combat and a month later I was calling targets and FCing small gangs (and a couple not so small).
Nothing will do more to improve your combat performance than getting into a ton of combat. And RVB is one of the best ways to get a lot of combat time.
I go into combat now and am able to size up the situation rapidly and calmly. Such as a month or so back when I warped to a gate only to get intel that a bunch of Noir were sitting waiting. I knew before I even landed that I wasn't going to make it based on the intel report so I was able to plan my contingency even as I landed and while I was unable to save my ship (I'd already written it off) I was able to focus on the task of getting my pod out and saving my implants.
Another thing you will get over rapidly is worry about losing your ship. You will learn that it is just a tool to complete a job and sometimes tools break and sometimes you break intentionally then you just grab another one off the shelf.
So if you are a carebear who wants to be a killer RvB is the place for you.

To the top.
Ok you carebears and bitter vets and well anyone who wants easy access to pew pew.
We fight. that's what we do.
An example last night I logged on late hoped in a fleet we worked out a little frig/dessie action with blues since we were finally free of 3rd parties interfering with our ability to blow each other up.
Just to be different I took out a rifter which normally results in a quick fiery death. I was surprised that it actually took Abram a few minutes to realize that I wasn't in a punisher.
Anyway it was like 7v7 with each team having a single destroyer. since I was doing the rifter thing (and a fail brawler set up at that.
I decided it would be wisest not to warp in with the main force and instead came in about halfway between our range dessy and our main force to act as a screener for the Dessy. Soon as I landed I targeted the anti-sniper rifter that was obviously close to as and killed him with a little help from our Dessy after that I rolled in to the main fray.
Was a fun time wracked up a quick 4 kills then spent a few minutes chasing soloers and a WT straggler around before calling it a night.
So once again if you want to have access to quick fun PVP what are you waiting for?

Bumpage time
Finally some time free of 3rd Party WTs. Things were a little slow with a shortage of blues online (it happens so if you play US evenings join blue so I can shoot you)
Went out at fight joined a little fleet and took out my beloved Wolf since there wasn't anything organized happening. Cruised a round a bit then started playing tag with a Blue Malediction on their undock. Aggressed him he docked up then blue undocked a thrasher. Engaged that and called my fleet in. Overheated everything yet sadly since I was running Barrage instead of a higher damage ammo (and I was dumb and got in too close to the thrasher) I popped before the thrasher did (though my fleet got him afterwards so it wasn't a total loss)
Went back to HQ hopped in a rifter the fleet kind of went dormant so I took the Rifter over to BHQ and sat on top of the station 200k. Out came a Blue Tristan who headed up on his MWD and engaged. Killed him, Contracted his stuff back to him, then went back out again.
Same pilot in another Tristan repeat previous incident give him a good fight and this time let him get his own loot ;-)
Flew back to Red HQ saw a couple frig above the station as I docked hopped into my Frig Killing Wolf and went out. By this time there were several other reds out including one in a rupture and since that seemed a bit overkill I started heading back to put my wolf away.
As I get into range Blue's starting to escalate their Rifter and Merlin engage I melt the Rifter but get hung up on the station so fail to close with the Merlin. A blue Rupture shows up and I'm sitting at about half armor so I head off to another station to repair.
When I get back on station I see that the Rupture is sitting near a wreck so I warp down to it and get point. he's pounding me pretty hard but thanks to the arrival of more reds he's going down faster I think I should probably turn the heat off those guns and as I pass over the ICON I see 99% damage and my guns die.
luckily I manage to hold together just long enough for my fellow reds to kill the rupture and save my wolf.
I put the Wolf away and grab my Enyo figuring it may suck but damn it I want to give it a try. Undock ***** on a Kestrel KM now it's christened (yeah I know 0 damage but a kill is a kill ;-)
After a little cat and mouse we chase a blue Omen out of Halle into Bereye. I am the first on uncloaked and I guess the Enyo was a juicy enough kill for the Omen pilot to be willing to go for it. He engages I try to get close and turn on the heat. Sadly he's got me double webbed so I'm not getting much in the way of traversal.
Get my pucker factor on then my guys aggression timers clear and in come the fleet which manages to kill the Omen while I still have a functioning Enyo.
Was great fun and that was a relatively uneventful night.
So come on down

Originally by: Tobedieh Returning player looking to give RvB a whirl. I generally play during EST evening hours and was wondering if there is a side that could use more pilots on during this time?
Well things had been skewed a bit in Red's favor at night but the last couple days it seems to have flipped.
The biggest problem we're facing atm is finding sufficient blues willing to step up and FC. So if you have any interest in FCing definitely go Blue. Otherwise flip a coin or pick your favorite color ;-)
So if you are bored with the NAP train of 0.0 and blob warfare tired of playing supercaps online? Want to get into some good small hull fights?
Then RVB is the place for you.

Ok so this will be one my last bumps as the RVB recruiter since I've decided after 8 months of fun in RVB to head off and check out some other parts of the game.
It has however for the most part been an extremely fun 8 months. I've met and flown with/against a lot of cool people then blew their ships up.
If you are new to PVP I can't recommend a run through RVB enough. Hell even if you don't plan on making a full time career of PVP RVB is a great place to spend a few weeks getting some basic experience so you won't freeze the first time someone locks your ship.
My biggest piece of advice in order to have a fun experience is a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. Step and organize fleets undock and go roaming (solo or in a fleet) around looking for fights. Ask for 1v1s go cruise through our nearby Low sec systems.
RVB rewards those who are willing to put some effort into it.
As I said in my GBCW post on the RVB Forums the defining difference I've seen between those who've enjoyed their time in RVB and those who found the experience lacking was how much effort they put into it and how wiling they were to step outside that comfort zone.
